Neither do I.

To be clear, I am not arguing that Confederate statues/monuments *shouldn't* be removed. They shouldn't have been built in the first place.

I am arguing that removing them won't solve America's problems in the way that the current fervor for removing them would have the majority of us to believe. What took place in post-Nazi-era Germany did not take place in post-Civil War America (or at least the post-Civil War South). The Confederate spirit wormed its way into the earth and has somehow survived in a horrifying largeness to this day. It is *this* dragon that must be slain.

Personally, I have no problem with the statues/monuments being removed. I honestly couldn't care less. I am just deeply concerned about the people so eager to have them removed that they wake up the following morning and realize America's racial nightmare is still going on.
